Mactrans Logistics Inc., which provides Third Party Logistics services across North America, has been one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies over the last five years.

Mactrans started in 2009 and has two offices today in Toronto and Montreal, with plans to open new offices in Moncton and in Calgary. Joel MacKay, Owner and President, said the company provides transportation management across North America, finding the appropriate carrier, mode, and shipping method to best suit the needs of its clients in an efficient and cost-effective way. “We provide customized transportation solutions for clients in Canada and the United States,” he said. “The real focus over the next three years is going to be opening up these new offices, expanding first into Atlantic Canada with Moncton in 2021 and then into Western Canada with Calgary in early 2022. We are licensed to service all North America and having offices in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Alberta is going to give Mactrans a national presence.” MacKay said Mactrans Logistics has literally reinvented transportation to suit each customer’s exact requirements. Customers are represented in a variety of industries such as retail, grocery, e-commerce, healthcare, automotive, and agriculture

“It’s all about people and we’ve got a really good team here. Because we are non-asset-based, we do not tell customers the lanes we service. Instead, we just ask, ‘what do you need help with’ then put together specialty programs.” – Joel MacKay, Owner and President

The company’s Less Than Truckload (LTL), Truckload and Final Mile network delivers superior transportation; it helps customers reduce their freight spend through its consolidation programs, and its free MACsync program is the easiest way to synchronize and analyze a customer’s supply chain to improve efficiencies. “We use our experience and database of thousands of carriers just to get things done. So, shippers do not have to make 25 different calls to 25 different carriers. One call to Mactrans, we can take care of the whole thing,” explained MacKay. “It’s all about people and we’ve got a really good team here. Because we are non-asset-based, we do not tell customers the lanes we service. Instead, we just ask, ‘what do you need help with’ then put together specialty programs,” said MacKay. “We also have a lot of respect for our carrier base. They are the backbone of our business and we understand nothing would get done without them. We use all of that data from our thousands of carriers and provide that information to our clients electronically through our Transportation Management System.” Over the next few years managing supply chains is going to become even more difficult because of capacity shortages, port congestions, and rising costs. Mactrans can help companies work through these challenging times by providing logistics expertise. For the last five years, Mactrans was named one of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by Canadian Business and Maclean’s. The Growth List ranks Canadian companies on five-year revenue growth. Mactrans was also named one of Canada’s Top Growing companies by Report on Business and the Globe and Mail for the last two years. This ranking is based on a company’s revenue growth over the last three years.

“We were looking for a well-organized and efficient company to handle the consolidation process of many orders to be shipped from central Canada to Newfoundland. Mactrans took on the challenge and delivered excellent results.”  – Denis Gendron, Consultant, Ventes au Détail, Secteur Alimentation, Food Retail Sector, Former President, United Grocers Inc. (UGI)
